Medrine Kihanga is from Tanzania and is a third-year student majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in public health at Earlham College in Richmond, IN. She is currently interning with Dr. Harsha Thirumurthy’s team through a program hosted by Arcadia University. Medrine hopes to pursue a career in public health, focusing on the epidemiology of infectious diseases, especially HIV/AIDs and Malaria. Her previous public health research has involved investigating the effectiveness of malaria prevention campaigns in Tanzania, and studied how maternal obesity may impact infant risk for pediatric diabetes. Apart from health research, Medrine is passionate about women and youth empowerment through education and currently also serves as a Theirworld Global Youth Ambassador.
